Every animal deserves ownership of its history — and protection from exploitation
Animals cannot protect themselves from scams, theft, neglect, or misuse. They rely on humans — and on systems — to do that for them.
UrBreed exists to give animals ownership of their own history and to protect that history from being stolen, erased, sold, or abused.
An animal's record does not belong to a breeder, an owner, a clinic, or even UrBreed. It belongs to the animal. Humans contribute while they are responsible — then they pass stewardship forward.
When there is a conflict between human profit and animal welfare, UrBreed chooses the animal. Every time. No profit from rehoming. No shortcuts. No exploitation.
Ownership changes. Guardians change. Circumstances change. The animal's history does not. From birth to memorial, one continuous record that follows them.
Breeders, veterinarians, owners, rescues, and finders work together around one shared truth: who this animal is, what they need, and what they have experienced.
UrBreed takes no profit from rehoming non-breeder animals. Rehoming fees exist for one reason only: to ensure the animal is healthy, their needs are met, and the new home is properly prepared. These funds are used transparently for veterinary care, medical evaluations, required treatments, and supplies necessary for the animal's wellbeing.
There is no incentive to move animals quickly. There is no incentive to move animals repeatedly. There is no incentive to exploit suffering.
UrBreed is designed to make animal theft and fraud harder by default. This includes lifelong identity and history continuity, verified stewardship changes, public lost & found tools with privacy-safe communication, medical access for emergency care without ownership abuse, and proof of provenance that cannot be quietly rewritten.
Animals should not disappear because paperwork failed.
Ethical breeding is not about producing volume. It is about protecting health, genetics, and diversity across generations. UrBreed preserves lineage responsibly, makes unethical practices visible, removes the ability to erase or rewrite outcomes, and supports breeders who prioritize long-term health over short-term profit.
Transparency protects genetics. Continuity protects breeds.
UrBreed allows breeders to prove ethical practices, veterinarians to see the full medical picture, owners to care responsibly, rescues to rehome without exploitation, finders to help lost animals safely, and communities to support animals for life.
Different roles. Different perspectives. One shared truth.
This is not about controlling animals.
It is about protecting them from scammers, thieves, exploitative systems, profit-first practices — and from being forgotten when systems fail.
UrBreed exists for one reason: to give animals ownership of their history and to help humans be worthy stewards of their care.
